Conversation: Social Sculpture

Each artist will give a presentation about their work that will explore questions arising from artists working in the community, such as: How have the role of art, artist and audience been reorganized? What is the potential for art to create civic sites for public discourse and expression? How do projects such as MAP 2013 facilitate the empowerment of the population to be actors in their own development? What is the potential for interdisciplinary practice to contribute research and knowledge production that supports positive social and environmental change? What is the artist’s responsibility for creating conditions in which cultures can exchange on an equal basis?
